How long They've Been in the Deck: Her whole life.
Suit/Rank: 4 of Clubs

History: Born and raised in the Clubs Castle, Teresa has never had any intention of leaving the Deck, but she's never had much will to participate in the whole politics of it, either. She was far more content to have her two-year-older brother Lionel fill their father's dream of having a Robledo back among the Faces again (for Kristopher would always go on how his great-grandfather-- "who was only second generation Deck, niña!"-- had surely been one of the greatest Jacks ever to live.) Oh, she did her fair share of learning the skills needed to survive in the world she was born into, and she learned well, becoming fluently not only in the spoken English and the family's Spanish but also getting a good grasp on Italian. She became well-read on Deck history and learned kickboxing. She was even taught by her mother how to utilize the 'sixth sense' of sorts her old Clubs family had come to acquire over the years to be able to sense and at times communicate with the plethora of ghosts that lived around them. However, she found purposely feeling the dead uncomfortable when she already had a passing idea of when they were about (and they are everywhere) that she used the talent sparingly. As for what she inherited from her father, well-- From the time she was old enough to pick up a fencing foil until the time she did her one and only challenge in it when she was sixteen, she fenced.

And then, after making the fairly daring (in her opinion) jump from Two to Four to please her father, she put the foil down, moved out of the Castle into Town, and started working at a coffee shop her aunt ran. Kristopher was understandably disappointed-- furious, really-- but Selena, whose sister was the aunt in question, finally lay down the law with her husband. Eventually, it was agreed: Teresa could pursue her dreams as a barista, and Lionel would do exactly as he wished and try to bring the family honour. Things were still rocky between them for a while, but four years on and the Robledos have started to slip back into a happy medium again.

Teresa herself is entirely content with her life as it is. Cafe Cocodrilo, her aunt's coffee shop, has mostly been kept in the family-- with her aunt Tanya and her uncle doing most of the administrative work and Teresa, her cousins, and a handful of others keep the customers caffeinated and the shop clean. She goes home to her little place in Town not far from the Green and does a bit of reading or one of her other hobbies, and has dinner with her parents and brother in the Castle at least once a week. It's not a particularly exciting life, perhaps, but considering the way life on the Deck is, she rather likes it that way.

Personality: For the most part, Teresa is a calm, chipper person who's always got a smile on her face and a bit of lighthearted flirtatiousness in her interactions. Most often she is happy and flying high, but when she hits the lows, she hits them hard. There's a certain intensity to everything she feels that can be frightening if she's feeling particularly saddened or angry and it's not entirely unknown for her to lash out at others or herself when in such a state. Thankfully, due to an at times unreasonable sense of optimism she inherited from her mother, she doesn't end up in that mindset very often.

She is a helper by nature, and that's only been exacerbated by the work she does. It's not unusual for her to go out for a walk and end up with a to-do list and a half of people she wants to help/ask to help someone else. She is fiercely protective of the people she cares for and would lay her life down for them if she had to, although she's thankfully never actually had to make that decision.

Because she lives alone, she's ended up with a few pets to keep her company: Xavier, a fat, lazy tabby cat who she's had almost since she moved to Town, Jojo, a parakeet she inherited from a friend who decided to go try their luck Outside, and Naomi, a hamster she acquired a few months back. She loves her animals about as much as she loves the people she's closest to, and if you get her talking about one or the other, it's entirely possible she'll end up talking your ear off if you don't stop her.

Mostly, though, she prefers to keep company among the living because the dead that she can still occasionally sense without desiring it make her just a little frightened, an ancient childhood fear she never quite learned to outgrow, much to her mother's side of the family's dismay. She rarely likes owning anything used because she fears it may have belonged to someone who passed on and may come to follow it, and it's resulted in her being a bit of a compulsive shopper (new things only!) if she doesn't watch herself. Usually, though, she tries not to let the meandering spirits upset her, and by and large through years of hard work at ignoring them, she mostly succeeds.

All in all, Teresa is a happy young woman who feels deeply and gives almost just as much. Many people tell her it's likely to get her in trouble someday, but with her personal life going as well as it is, she can't imagine she'd not be able to handle any trouble that may come along.

Appearance: Teresa is almost always smiling, and it's always genuine-- you'd know if she was upset. She's most often seen with her hair tied back and tucked away and with Cafe Cocodrilo's apron on, but when she's not working she likes to wear her newest dress/top and leggings/comfortable bottoms. You will likely never on your life see her wearing heels and she is in fact easily recognized around Town by the brightly coloured shoes she prefers to wear-- most often sneakers, but every so often flats. What spice and adventure she may lack in life (a fact she doesn't mind much at all, really,) she makes up for with her at times incredibly zany outfits.
